you're not crying, but the thought is there we've got to end this love affair before we do something the both of us regret we're not kissing, but our lips are there blue electricity in my veins with twitching i cannot contain as i slowly break into an icy sweat all my blood is freezing in my veins i want to stay so i guess i should leave i'd like to say things that make you believe you still love me you love me, but it's not enough i think i need some other stuff to make me feel like i have some control because i don't think i have enough we each know what the other thinks so you know how much i want a (wanna) drink to drown the pain and logic in my soul because sometimes i don't care what you think i want to stay so i guess i should leave i'd like to say things that make me believe you still love me i've got a mind to call you now but there's too much sweat upon my brow who knows if you'll confirm my biggest fears there's nothing i can do about you now i know how much you meant to me but now that's a memory i've got nothing to show for all of those years except the trinkets that you sent to me i want to stay so i guess i should leave i'd like to say things that make you believe you still love me

i told myself i was over you ready to move on and try something new i told myself i was doing fine your memories were stricken from my mind i thought for sure that i'd cleaned my slate i watched the bitter feelings dissipate but when i heard the words you said I TURNED RED! I TURNED RED! i've been feeling blue, i'm not over you so tell me what did you mean i'm about to crack, my world's turning black because i'm seeing green sometimes i think that it's for the best it's b z z etter to have loved and lost i guess sometimes i think that all i can do is stay away and hope the best for you most of the time i try not to be an asshole so consumed by envy but when i hear the things i dr ad I TURN RED! I TURN RED! i've been feeling blue, i'm not over you i'm too yellow to be mean but sometimes jealousy gets a hold of me so now i'm seeing green so now you say we should still be friends i guess that means this'll never end well, hip hurray! this'll sure work fine i'll always be there but you'll never be mine too many years of the dating game i get the feeling that it's all the same too many times i will give my heart stoically watch as it breaks apart i tell myself that i don't need love it's an illusion it's just a drug but to this drug i am addicted NOW I'M RED! I'M TURNING RED! i've been feeling blue, i'm not over you so tell me what did you mean i'm about to crack, my world's turning black and now i'm seeing green now i'm seeing green now i'm seeing green.

when you're falling from a building you don't need to be scared you're falling but not dropping you're floating in midair suspended in a timewarp you will find an inner peace if your sense of normal physics is released gravity is superseded by the human mind and if you close your eyes right now you'll find that you can fly forever if you conquer time immortality's not that hard all you need to do is create a word said in a theater will always reverberate the words may fade from memory but forever are impressed they stay inside the crowd's subconsciousness they soak into the walls they are embedded in the stairs you're gone before they knew that you were there but for a time you floated on the air

wasn't it you that said we started off dead and we'll go back if we don't watch it? we're born from dirt and lust we started off dust but we still think that we are hot shit we used to hunt for food pick berries in the nude until they all began to shrivel we thought we had to hide our animalistic side because we feared being uncivil so we evolved and problem-solved exploited our resources all to the hilt denying urges we emerged and turned this world into a patchwork quilt and so we moved and killed built cities on a hill but we never could perfect them because this world's too large so we put someone in charge and let an even mind direct them we made some rules and laws we had a noble cause until we got drunk off our power and so we started wars with people who ignore the fact we have the biggest towers we'll soon be gone we've got the bomb and someday we'll tear down the roads we have built i've looked around and i have found this world is naught but a patchwork quilt i went to town last fall saw a sticker on the wall that said a strong man needs no leaders and right next to the sign i saw a lady cryin' askin' me if I could feed her although i gave her a dime i still see her every time i stick a fork into my dinner we're all so fat and content in the 98% while the bottom half gets thinner if we don't change our views i can't watch the news without being totally stricken by guilt but we won't change our ways and so some days i want to just tear up this patchwork quilt

we've reached the border that frames us within this picture ghosts in the wind as (we) burn the proof of the things we did we reflect on our reflections, our souls sold for silence their intentions are too intense, we shield our eyes from glare we sleep the day away and work the graveyard shifts we make our beds with the flowers and wait with the worms light the pack the (?) and the match we kiss the day away and stick to this beaten path who's behind this course? is it you, is it me, or is it another, one we still have yet to see? bottles broken, necks and bodies these elongated fingers crawl, they trace the curves heat will raise as it licks the back of our necks in the morning of bodies that will heal in time as we withdraw our sharp wit and clever lies we are a match, a spark, we slipped on silver tongues head to the horizon with the eyes away from sunrises sungloss shadows whispers in the air my heart and head ache with noise from the streets i let the top down as you begin to undress my eyes my hand on yours, we've switched gears find a quick way out if we are to make headway the scene lays in disa(rr)ay those of many alleged allies strung out along the floorboards i am just a witness, quick to dismiss this can we still make the mistakes that lead us to take these hearts? the stakeout has been found out we break out to run this plan is far from finished

about

Q: So what's this thing, eh? The Charlie Crane Archives?
A: What this thing is is a collection of stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else. Demos, live tracks, outtakes, drivel, and a myriad of supplemental materials from 1987 up until the present day.
Q: Oh boy! Where should I begin?
A: The tracks you find streaming here are selected highlights - pay $30 and you'll get access to bonus tracks (of appropriately marginal quality). Bump it up to $30.40, and you get access to the rest of my discography too. These tracks represent a mere fraction of the total Archives, and purchasers should always be privvy to new additions (if I ever get around to going through this stack of old unlabeled mystery CD-Rs and cassette tapes, that is).
Q: Sounds a little pretentious to me - you think you're Neil Young, hot shot?
A: Well, no. This is all pretty much junk that wasn't good enough to go anywhere else. But I thought you might be entertained by some of it.
Q: Don't be huffy, I was just yanking your chain. Forgive me.
A: Only if you let me have some of that biscuit.
Q: Fair enough. So what of these supplemental materials?
A: Glad you asked. The Charlie Crane Archives are not just limited to music, but also videos, photographs, old notebooks, fortunes from old cookies, class projects, receipts, broken drumsticks...
Q: Are you sure you're not a hoarder?
A: Don't hoarders always deny they're hoarders?
