Killer: The Zodiac Killer
Victims: 5 confirmed (37 claimed)
Song background: In Northern California in the late sixties, a series of murders was committed a man who called himself "the Zodiac." His victims were often young couples in parks or lovers' lanes. He sent several brazen letters to local newspapers with details about the murders not released to the public, boasts of an increasing body count (one letter's P.S. read "I hope you have fun trying to figure out who I killed. Zodiac = 10, SFPD = 0") and cryptograms (some of which have yet to be decoded). The true identity of the Zodiac is still unknown, although several suspects have been investigated with inconclusive results.
lyrics
we received this morning
a package in the mail
with clues designed to keep us
a step behind the trail
let's decode these symbols
before he strikes again
let's arrange
these pieces
so we can bring this to an end
it was then when the news broke:
another couple had been found
let's take a trip to lover's lane
see if we come back home again
let's take a trip to lover's lane
see if we come back home again
reading under black-light
to see what we can find
there's something that is hidden
to which we are blind
let's dissect this writing
let's decrypt the code
let's test every theory
so we can wind down this long road
it was then when the news broke:
another couple had been found
let's take a trip to lover's lane
see if we come back home again
let's take a trip to lover's lane
see if we come back home again
as he fades into the darkness
he'll leave no one to be a witness
let's take a trip to lover's lane
see if we come back home again
let's take a trip to lover's lane
see if we come back home again
